People searching for a Baku food tour may want different things: a guided walk with several tastings, an Azerbaijani cooking class, or a seated introduction to local cuisine. Those formats have different costs, walking demands and meal inclusions. This is a planning guide, not a published Birtour food-tour departure or a promise that a particular venue is available.

The Azerbaijan Tourism Board's Baku dining guide describes the city's mix of local dishes and dining formats. Its qutab-making page describes places where visitors may watch or join preparation, subject to the host's arrangement. These are examples of what a visitor can seek in Baku; they do not reserve a class for a new enquiry.
What should you taste?
Qutab, dolma, plov, tea and sweets offer different ways into Azerbaijani food. A short food walk may only allow small tastings, while a class can focus on making one dish well. Tell the organiser if a specific dish is essential, and ask where and when it will be served. A broad promise to “try local cuisine” is too vague to compare with another offer.
The Tourism Board describes qutab as a folded pastry with several fillings. UNESCO's dolma description describes a shared preparation tradition and common meat-based fillings. Neither dish name establishes that a serving is vegetarian, vegan or suitable for a particular allergy. Check the actual recipe, broth, cooking fat and cross-contact with the named kitchen. If halal preparation matters, request confirmation for the meat, ingredients and kitchen procedure rather than assuming it from the destination.
What goes into a useful private brief?
Send your date, party size, hotel or meeting point, available hours, guide language, desired format and dishes. Add the walking limit and any step-free access requirement. Say whether you want alcohol, a non-alcoholic pairing or no drinks. For a cooking class, ask whether the venue provides an English-speaking instructor, a hands-on station for each guest and a meal afterwards.
A dated proposal should name the host or planned stops and state what is included: guide, transport, food portions, class fee, drinks, taxes, payment and cancellation rules.
