The Cost of an Indian Wedding in Azerbaijan: 2026 Data Report (100 to 300 Guests)
comparison · 8 min read
Birtour's 2026 cost report for an Indian wedding in Baku: all-in and per-guest bands from 100 to 300 guests, a per-category breakdown, the August 2026 air-access picture, and a stated method, drawn from delivered and quoted programs. Figures in USD with AZN and INR equivalents.
Birtour is a Baku-based DMC that produces Indian and GCC-resident Indian weddings across Azerbaijan's 5-star properties. This report answers the one question the aggregators skip: what a Baku Indian wedding actually costs. For a 3-day program with a 5-star anchor, all-in landed cost runs about USD 1,700 to 4,300 per guest, or roughly USD 240,000 for 100 guests up to about USD 1.02 million for 300 guests at full custom production, before international guest flights. The figures below come from our own delivered and quoted programs, not from published averages.
Method. Bands are aggregated from Indian and GCC-resident Indian weddings Birtour delivered and quoted in Baku across 2023 to 2025, normalised to 2026 rates. All figures are 3-day programs with a 5-star anchor. They exclude international guest airfare. USD is primary; AZN and INR equivalents use 1 USD ≈ 1.70 AZN ≈ 88 INR. The Central Bank of Azerbaijan published an official rate of 1.7000 AZN to the dollar in its bulletin for 10 August 2026, the same figure as the earlier bulletin we sampled, so a USD budget carries no manat drift inside a normal quote window. Ranges, not point prices, because season, venue count and production scope move the number more than guest count alone. Last re-checked 10 August 2026.
Why the band is this wide
Three choices move a Baku Indian wedding budget further than guest count does: the season you book into, whether every function runs at one property or rotates across two or three, and how much of the production is custom-built rather than drawn from stock. A 200-guest wedding sits at USD 380,000 or at USD 720,000 on those three decisions alone.
All-in cost by guest count
A 3-day Indian wedding in Baku with a 5-star anchor lands at roughly USD 240,000 all-in at 100 guests and about USD 1.02 million at 300 guests with full custom production. Per guest that is USD 1,730 to 4,300. Every band below is in 2026 rates and excludes international guest airfare, which guests book themselves.
| Guests | All-in band (USD) | Per guest (USD) | All-in band (INR) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100 | 240,000–430,000 | 2,400–4,300 | ₹2.1cr–₹3.8cr |
| 150 | 310,000–560,000 | 2,050–3,700 | ₹2.7cr–₹4.9cr |
| 200 | 380,000–720,000 | 1,900–3,600 | ₹3.3cr–₹6.3cr |
| 250 | 450,000–880,000 | 1,800–3,500 | ₹4.0cr–₹7.7cr |
| 300 | 520,000–1,020,000 | 1,730–3,400 | ₹4.6cr–₹9.0cr |
The per-guest number falls as the count rises. That is not a volume discount; it is fixed cost spreading. Mandap fabrication, stage and sound, lead planners and the management layer cost roughly the same for 100 guests as for 300, so they weigh far more per head at the small end. Rooms and catering scale with heads; production and management do not.
Where the money goes
Accommodation and production together take about half of a Baku Indian wedding budget. On a representative 200-guest, 3-day program the split runs 25 to 30 percent on the 5-star room block, 18 to 24 percent on production, and 15 to 20 percent on food and beverage, with venue and mandap, ground logistics, film and management sharing what is left.
| Category | Share of all-in | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Accommodation | 25–30% | 5-star room block, couple and family suites, welcome amenities |
| Production | 18–24% | Decor, floral, stage, sound, lighting, entertainment |
| Food and beverage | 15–20% | Vegetarian, Jain and halal catering across all functions |
| Venue and mandap | 12–16% | Function spaces plus mandap build and structural decor |
| Ground logistics | 5–8% | Airport transfers, inter-venue fleet, guest movement |
| Photography and film | 5–8% | Lead photographer, cinematographer, edits |
| Planning and management | 6–10% | On-ground production team, coordination, 24/7 support |
If a family wants to move the total, accommodation and production are the levers. Catering is not, and families are consistently surprised by that. We have taken 15 percent off a menu spec and watched it move the all-in by low single digits, because the covers were never the expensive part. Which venue-and-room-block combination you start from does far more, and that reconciliation lives on our Baku venue capacity matrix.
What moves the number most
Season
May to October is peak; room and venue rates are highest and the best dates go first. November to April is materially cheaper. The weather trade-off is real and specific: Baku's mean daily maximum is 7.3 degrees Celsius in January, and the peninsula is windy in every month of the year, with the annual peak in March. Budget a covered alternative for anything outdoors between November and April, and treat March as an indoor-only month for set-ups.
Venue count
A single-anchor wedding, where every function runs at one 5-star property, is the most efficient. A two or three-venue rotation, with the welcome at one hotel, the sangeet at another and a closing function on the Caspian coast, adds transfer, setup and teardown cost. It also gives the photographs more range, so it is a spend rather than a waste.
Production scope
A clean mandap, a good stage and standard floral is one number. Full custom, with imported floral looks, layered lighting design and flown-in entertainment, is another. This is where two 200-guest weddings can differ by 300,000 dollars.
Guest origin
A GCC-resident guest list is the cheaper and simpler build. Dubai to Baku is a short hop, under 3 hours block time on the fastest rotation, and the route carries 16 nonstop flights a week, so guests arrive across a single day rather than four. Indian passport holders resident in the UAE with at least 6 months left on the residence visa are directed to visa on arrival by the Azerbaijani embassy in Abu Dhabi; everyone else on an Indian passport takes the e-visa, which the official ASAN portal listed at USD 29 (USD 20 state fee plus USD 9 service fee) when we read it on 30 July 2026. We batch the applications either way. The full entry picture sits in our visa and flights guide for wedding guests.
What changed on air access in August 2026
Through September 2026 the whole India-to-Baku market is Azerbaijan Airlines: one nonstop a day from Delhi at about 4 hours 40 minutes block, and one a day from Mumbai at about 5 hours 20 on an overnight bank. IndiGo suspended its Baku service over Iranian-airspace risk and current schedule data does not show it returning before October. Dubai to Baku runs 16 nonstops a week.
That has a budget consequence people miss. A 150-guest India-origin party cannot land in one day on a single daily narrowbody; it spreads across three or four arrival waves, which means extra room nights on the front end, extra transfer waves, and a welcome dinner that has to work twice. Routing part of the group through Dubai fixes the spread and adds a connection. From 29 July 2026 Air India put its code on the AZAL-operated Delhi and Mumbai services, so guests can now buy Baku on a single Air India ticket with through-connections from other Indian cities, which is a genuine distribution change from 2025. Treat the October IndiGo restart as a filed schedule rather than a commitment, and re-confirm before you build a guest travel plan on it.
How this compares abroad
Baku sits in the value tier without a capacity compromise. Dubai runs AED 1.5 to 2 million for 150 to 200 guests (Dubai data); Lake Como runs near USD 3,000 per guest (Como data); a Udaipur palace wedding runs ₹70 lakh to ₹2.5 crore (Udaipur data). We keep a full side-by-side in the Baku versus Dubai versus Udaipur versus Italy comparison.
What we do not quote publicly
We do not publish a single package price, because a real Indian wedding is priced from a brief rather than a menu, and a headline number would mislead more than it helps. We do not include international guest airfare in these bands, since guests book their own. We do not quote the rock-bottom figure some vendors advertise; our bands assume 5-star anchors and a production standard we will stand behind on the day. And we do not issue legal opinions on Azerbaijani marriage registration. We can tell you what the Family Code and the embassies publish and we can route the paperwork, but the ruling on your own case belongs to ASAN and to your consulate, not to us. The legal picture is set out in our guide to marrying in Azerbaijan as an Indian couple.
For families pricing a single scenario line by line, see our 200-guest Baku wedding cost page. To see a real program at 250 guests, read the Four Seasons and Fairmont wedding. We re-check the FX line, the air schedules and the visa rules behind this report roughly quarterly, and date the page when we do.
- How much does an Indian wedding in Baku cost per guest?
- For a 3-day program with a 5-star anchor, our all-in cost runs roughly USD 1,700 to 4,300 per guest, before international guest flights. The per-guest figure falls as the count rises, because production, mandap and management costs are largely fixed. At 100 guests expect the top of that range; at 300 guests the bottom.
- What is the all-in budget for a 200-guest Indian wedding in Azerbaijan?
- About USD 380,000 to 720,000 for a 3-day, 200-guest wedding, excluding international guest airfare. The lower bound assumes shoulder-season dates and a single anchor property; the upper bound assumes peak season, multi-venue rotation and full custom production.
- What drives the cost of a Baku Indian wedding?
- Four levers move the number most: guest count (rooms and catering scale with heads), season (May to October peak pricing), venue count (single anchor versus a two or three-venue rotation), and production scope (a standard mandap and stage versus full custom decor, floral and entertainment). Accommodation and production are the two biggest line items.
- Is a Baku wedding cheaper off-season?
- Yes, materially. November to April dates cut 5-star room and venue rates against the May to October peak, and vendor availability is easier. The trade-off is weather. Baku averages 7 degrees Celsius in January and its mean wind speed never drops below about 17 kph in any month, peaking in March, so outdoor and Caspian-side functions need a covered alternative held in parallel.
- Do Indian guests need a visa for Azerbaijan in 2026?
- Indian passport holders are eligible for the Azerbaijan e-visa, which the official ASAN portal priced at USD 29 (USD 20 state fee plus USD 9 service fee) when we checked it on 30 July 2026, issued within 3 working days and valid for a single entry and a 30-day stay. Indian nationals holding a UAE residence visa with at least 6 months left to run are directed to visa on arrival instead, per the Azerbaijani embassy in Abu Dhabi. Confirm your own case on evisa.gov.az before booking flights.
- Can we legally register the marriage in Azerbaijan during the wedding week?
- Plan on a symbolic ceremony in Baku and the legal registration at home. The Azerbaijani Family Code sets a statutory minimum of one month between application and registration (Articles 9.1 and 172.2), and the US Embassy in Baku describes an end-to-end process of roughly two months plus a residence-permit requirement. Article 148.2 recognises a marriage concluded abroad under the couple's own law. Confirm your own case with ASAN and your embassy.
- Does this budget include guest flights?
- No. All bands in this report exclude international guest airfare, which guests usually book themselves. They include the couple's and immediate family's accommodation, venues, mandap, catering, production, photography, ground transport and on-ground management. Legal marriage registration sits outside these bands entirely.
