Birtour is a Baku-based DMC running this 7-day Indian honeymoon blueprint at $2,280 per person twin-share (six nights, 5★ Caspian-front Baku + Chenot Palace Gabala anchor, vegetarian and jain catering signed off 6 weeks before arrival). India became Azerbaijan's 4th-largest source market in 2024 at 6.5% of arrivals, with inbound rising 108% from 117,302 in 2023 to 243,589 in 2024 (see our Q1 2026 inbound analysis). The shape covers Baku, Gobustan, a Yanardag photographer hour, a private Caspian yacht, and a Gabala mountain back-half.

Why does this 7-day shape work for Indian honeymooners?

The 7-day shape is the most-requested length from Mumbai and Delhi operators: long enough to pair the Caspian and the Caucasus mountains, short enough to fit the post-wedding window most couples have. Day 2 carries the sightseeing debt for the whole week, which leaves four days that can be paced for two people rather than for coverage.

Across Birtour's own enquiry pipeline, Indian honeymoon volume through the first half of 2026 has come back off a soft 2025, which is the movement our Q1 inbound analysis tracks. We would not generalise that to the market. No official 2025 or 2026 Indian arrivals figure has been published, and anyone quoting one at you is quoting an estimate with a decimal point on it.

This itinerary is one product in our Azerbaijan DMC catalogue for Indian tour operators. It is sample, adaptable, and ready to be re-priced to your contracted hotel rates. For wedding-format work, see our Indian wedding cost breakdown.

How do couples fly from India to Baku right now?

One daily from Delhi and one daily from Mumbai, both on Azerbaijan Airlines, both narrowbody. Delhi to Baku blocks 4h40 with departures spread across the day; Mumbai blocks 5h20 on an overnight bank leaving between 02:10 and 05:10. Dubai to Baku runs 16 times a week at 2h55.

Two things changed on that map this summer. Air India put its code on the AZAL Delhi and Mumbai services from 29 July 2026, so a couple can buy Baku on a single Air India ticket with a through-connection from Bengaluru, Hyderabad or Kochi instead of a self-transfer at Delhi. And IndiGo, which suspended Baku alongside Tbilisi, Almaty and Tashkent over Iranian-airspace routing, has not come back. Its return shows in filed schedules from October 2026, and a filed schedule is not a commitment.

For two people this is a non-issue; any flight has two seats on it. The ceiling shows up behind them. A 150-guest wedding party out of India, on one daily narrowbody from each of two cities, either spreads across several days or routes through Dubai, and that arithmetic is why we send families to our visa and flights guide for Indian wedding guests before they fix a date.

Do Indian passport holders need a visa for Azerbaijan?

Yes, an e-visa, and it is cheap and quick. India is on the ASAN e-visa list at USD 29 all in, a USD 20 state fee plus a USD 9 service fee, issued within three working days with a three-hour urgent option at extra cost. It is single entry, valid 90 days, and permits a stay of up to 30 days.

Three details catch people out. Apply at least three working days before arrival, because standard e-visa validity does not start any earlier than that. The payment card does not have to be in the applicant's name, which matters when a parent or a family office is booking. And group applications are supported at 2 to 10 people for a family and 10 to 300 for a group, so a honeymoon travelling ahead of a wedding party can go in as one submission.

A seven-night trip stays under the 15-day threshold that triggers State Migration Service registration, so there is nothing further to file. Indian nationals holding a UAE residence visa with at least six months left to run take visa-on-arrival at the airport instead, which is the route most Dubai-based Indian couples use. We do not publish a figure for the urgent-service fee, because no government page states one, and the aggregator numbers disagree with each other.

What we deliberately built in

Three things go into this blueprint that a Baku-default honeymoon does not carry. Each one exists because an Indian operator complained about its absence before a couple ever did. None of the three is an upsell; all three sit inside the published rate, which is the only reason they survive a re-price.

  • Vegetarian + jain confirmed at booking, not negotiated meal-by-meal. The catering manifest is signed off by Birtour 6 weeks before arrival.
  • A honeymoon photographer hour at Yanardag day 3. This is the shot Indian couples most want and the one Baku-default itineraries don't include.
  • Spa days on travel-recovery windows: day 4 in Baku and day 6 in Gabala. Honeymoon energy should peak on the yacht and the gala dinner, not on the Gobustan petroglyph hike.

On hotel selection: the Azerbaijan Tourism Board's wedding-tourism consortium activated at WeddingSutra Mumbai in late 2024 with AZAL, Shahdag Mountain Resort, Dreamland Golf Club, Sea Breeze Resort, and Absheron Hotel Group as the destination roster. The board has kept working the trade since, taking 20 pre-scheduled planner meetings at the Destination Wedding Planners Congress in Macao on 22 to 24 April 2026. We can quote any of that roster for honeymoon couples whose families later run a 3 to 7 day Indian wedding. Default 5★ in this itinerary remains Four Seasons or Fairmont in Baku and Chenot Palace in Gabala.

Which month suits the Caspian yacht evening?

Late September and October, if the couple has the choice. Baku is windy year-round because of its peninsula position, and the monthly mean never falls below about 17 kph, but September and October are the two calmest of the year at 17.0 to 17.2. The Caspian is still 24 °C in September and 20 °C in October.

March is the opposite end of the same argument. It is the windiest month at a 21.6 kph mean, and we will not sell an outdoor yacht evening into it without naming the failure mode first. Summer is not the problem most couples expect: July and August are dry and sunny, with roughly one rain day in July, but daytime maxima of 30 to 31 °C and a UV index of 8 to 9 push the yacht, the photographer hour and the fire-pit dinner into the evening rather than the afternoon. That is exactly why day 4 puts the spa in the morning and the water at sunset.

What we deliberately left out

Two things come out on purpose, both for the same reason. A seven-day honeymoon has room for one checklist day and no more. An operator who wants either of them back can have it as a priced extension rather than folded into the week, because folding it in is what turns a honeymoon into a coach tour.

  • No Sheki extension. Sheki is a 4-hour drive from Baku and doesn't pair gracefully with a honeymoon's pacing. We recommend Sheki for a 10-day variant on the wider Caucasus circuit, not on a 7-day honeymoon.
  • No multi-stop city tour day. Day 2's Old City + Flame Towers is the only "checklist" day. The rest is paced for romance, not coverage.

Is this itinerary halal or vegetarian?

It is built vegetarian-default, with jain options pre-confirmed and halal available on request for Indian-Muslim couples. The 5★ anchors in Baku and Gabala both run halal kitchens at hotel grade, and the catering manifest is signed off six weeks before arrival, so nothing is retrofitted at the table.

Since 1 April 2026 there is a national instrument behind that answer as well. Azerbaijan adopted AZS OIC/SMIIC 9:2026, "Halal Tourism Services. General Requirements", through the Azerbaijan Standardization Institute, covering accommodation facilities, tour packages and guides. It is a framework rather than a per-property certificate, and no register of certified hotels has appeared yet, but it gives a Muslim Indian family a citable national standard instead of a property's word.

Baku's Indian F&B depth is also better than most planners assume, and it is not only outside caterers. Fairmont Baku markets Indian cuisine as an in-house kitchen line, and the Raj Group runs a multi-brand Indian restaurant estate across Baku and Gabala with its own catering and events arm. What we do not claim: no Baku 5★ publishes whether it admits an outside Indian caterer into its kitchen, and we have not seen jain production audited at wedding scale anywhere in the city. For two people on a honeymoon, neither question bites. For the 200-cover wedding that sometimes follows, both are the first things we test.

For a couple whose families are already talking about a wedding in the same city, the cost model sits in our Indian wedding cost breakdown, and the 250-guest Baku wedding we delivered is the closest thing to a walkthrough of what that week actually looks like.

Frequently asked
Is the 7-day Baku honeymoon itinerary vegetarian and jain-friendly?
Yes. Birtour builds this Baku honeymoon vegetarian-default with jain options pre-confirmed across all meals, and the catering manifest is signed off 6 weeks before arrival. Halal is available on request for Indian-Muslim couples; the 5★ anchors in Baku and Gabala both run halal kitchens at hotel grade.
How much does the 7-day Baku honeymoon cost and what is included?
Birtour prices this blueprint from $2,280 per person twin-share: six nights at a 5★ Caspian-front Baku hotel and Chenot Palace Gabala, a private guide, a 2-hour Caspian sunset yacht, a Yanardag photographer hour, and a couples' spa half-day. International flights, insurance, and gratuities are excluded.
Are there direct flights from India to Baku?
Yes. Azerbaijan Airlines flies Delhi to Baku and Mumbai to Baku daily, seven nonstop services a week on each route as of August 2026, blocking 4h40 and 5h20 respectively. Air India put its code on both from 29 July 2026, so the trip is bookable on a single AI ticket with connections from other Indian cities. IndiGo suspended Baku over Iranian-airspace routing and shows a return only in filed schedules from October 2026.
Do Indian passport holders need a visa for Azerbaijan?
Yes, an e-visa. India is on the ASAN e-visa list at USD 29 all in, a USD 20 state fee plus a USD 9 service fee, issued within three working days with a three-hour urgent option at extra cost. It is single entry, valid 90 days, and permits a stay of up to 30 days, so a seven-night honeymoon sits well inside it. India is not on Azerbaijan's visa-free list.
Which month suits the Caspian sunset yacht best?
Late September and October. Baku is windy year-round because of its peninsula position and the monthly mean never falls below roughly 17 kph, but September and October are the two calmest months at 17.0 to 17.2, with the Caspian still at 24 °C in September and 20 °C in October. March is the windiest month of the year at 21.6 kph and the one we push couples away from for an outdoor evening.
Why doesn't the Baku honeymoon itinerary include Sheki?
Sheki is a 4-hour drive from Baku and doesn't pair gracefully with a honeymoon's pacing, so Birtour recommends it for a 10-day Caucasus variant instead. The 7-day shape keeps day 2 as the only checklist day and paces the rest for romance: yacht, photographer hour, spa windows.
