7-Day Azerbaijan Itinerary: Baku, Gabala and Sheki

This 7-day Azerbaijan itinerary is a practical first-trip route through Baku, Gobustan, Gabala and Sheki. It uses six nights and returns to Baku before departure, so the longest intercity road leg does not sit against an early international flight.

Route at a glance

This is the westbound route recommended for a first week because Gabala and Sheki lie in the same general direction from Baku. Quba and Khinalig form a separate northern arm. Forcing both arms into one week adds repeated road time and more hotel changes.

Why spend the final night in Baku?

Sheki deserves an overnight, but it is a regional road journey from Baku. Returning on day six gives the departure day a safer shape and leaves room for flight-driven pickup timing. If your flight is late on day seven, the final Baku hours can be used for a museum, market or meal chosen after current opening information is checked.

2. Vehicle type, luggage capacity and any child seats.
3. Which days include a licensed guide and in which language.
4. Admissions, meals and seasonal activities included in the price.
5. Mud-volcano access arrangements and a weather alternative.

The Azerbaijan Tourism Board describes Baku, Shaki and the country's main visitor regions. Its official Gobustan guide places the reserve about 60 kilometres south of Baku, which is why this itinerary uses it as a Baku-based excursion rather than combining it with the westbound transfer.
