Naftalan vs Croatia vs the Dead Sea for Psoriasis: A 2026 Comparison

Naftalan in Azerbaijan, the Naftalan Special Hospital in Ivanić-Grad, Croatia, and Dead Sea programmes are different clinical and travel settings. A destination comparison can help you organise a trip; it cannot determine which treatment is suitable for your psoriasis.

Naftalan vs Dead Sea for psoriasis

A 2020 prospective Dead Sea cohort study followed 18 patients through a four-week programme of individually planned sun exposure and bathing in Ein Gedi. The authors reported improvement after treatment, but did not observe long-term disease control. This was a small cohort, not a comparison with Azerbaijan’s Naftalan sanatoriums or the Croatian hospital.

Naftalan vs Croatia for psoriasis

The Naftalan Special Hospital’s official site describes a medical rehabilitation hospital in Ivanić-Grad and lists naftalan therapy, dermatology services and phototherapy. It describes its medicinal oil as obtained by distillation. This establishes the hospital’s published services, not a clinical comparison with Azerbaijan or confirmation of a booking.

Ask each facility which formulation it uses, which clinician evaluates you, what the course includes and what follow-up it provides. The 2003 published review discusses clinical experience and laboratory safety work; evidence about one preparation should not be transferred automatically to another.

Which destination is best for psoriasis?

Make the clinical decision with your dermatologist, then compare the written programme and travel quote. Use the same questions for every facility:

A published service list, a historical room rate and a study outcome have different meanings. Compare each on its own basis; a lower travel price does not establish a better clinical result.

How much does psoriasis treatment cost at each?

Naftalan sanatorium packages in Azerbaijan run roughly $70 to $210 a night as of July 2026, room and treatment bundled, based on the rack rates our naftalan sanatorium comparison tracks. That is a public rack rate, not Birtour's net B2B rate, and properties bundle room and treatment differently, so ask us for a current quote once you know your dates.

One property in the town breaks the bundle out, which is the only way to see what the treatment component is actually worth inside somebody else's package. Gold Naftalan publishes a per-procedure list: a full-body naftalan bath at 15 AZN, a sitting bath at 10, foot and hand baths at 8 each, electrotherapy and laser therapy at 6, alongside room rates from 125 AZN single including three meals. Read that as a reference point for the Azerbaijani side only; it says nothing about how Croatia or the Dead Sea price their programs.

We did not find reliable current pricing for the Special Hospital Naftalan programme in Ivanić-Grad or for Dead Sea psoriasis programs in our source research for this page, so we are not publishing a figure for either. Both destinations sell programs that bundle accommodation with a course length set by the treating facility; get a quote directly from the venue rather than trusting a third-party number that may be stale. How hard is each destination to reach?

The Azerbaijan transport references below were checked in August 2026. Reconfirm current departures, fares and entry requirements before booking; they are not a live timetable.

Naftalan is the leg we can document. It sits about 340 km from Baku's airport by the hotels' own reckoning, with no direct coach, reached through Ganja at 50 km or Goran railway station at 20 km. Courses run indoors, so season moves the transfer, not the treatment. We did not source access or season detail for the other two.

Baku's International Bus Terminal publishes no Naftalan route at all. What it does publish is Baku to Ganja, 360 km at 13.10 to 13.50 AZN, running roughly half-hourly through the afternoon and evening, with a further 50 km by car from there. Take its fares and distances; ignore its journey times, since the same page prints the 360 km Ganja run as "2 hour 5 minute".

The rail picture changed this year. Azerbaijan Railways opened the first regular daily Ganja to Gabala passenger service on 12 January 2026, 139 km in 1 hour 50 minutes from 4.30 AZN, calling at Goran. Goran also sits on the Baku main line, so main line to Goran plus a short road transfer is now a workable arrival that did not exist in 2025. Air does not help: on 11 and 12 August 2026 the Heydar Aliyev departures board carried Nakhchivan as its only domestic destination, with no Ganja service on either date.
